Vehicle For Hire — Market Rate
Gopher’s Vehicle For Hire service is like a taxi service. It is for people who are not eligible for Mobility For All trips and need door-to-door transportation. The main difference between our Vehicle For Hire service and taxis is that riders must pre-register for our service, and rides cannot be hailed from the street.
Fares:
- Currently, the fare for the Vehicle For Hire Program is calculated as: $10 booking fee + $2.50/mile when the passenger is in the vehicle.
Sharing Trips
- In the future there may be opportunities to opt-in to share a ride with someone else for a reduced rate. Sharing trips contributes to our mission of reducing vehicles on the road while keeping the rides affordable for our riders.
- Going forward, we also plan to provide vehicle for hire trips to Burlington International Airport.
Contract Transportation Service
Our Contract Transportation Service is for businesses or entities that are interested in entering into a long-term service agreement with Community Rides Vermont (DBA Gopher) to provide rides on a reoccurring or retainer basis. Please contact us for further details.

If you initiate any SMS conversation with us to our number 855-467-4375 then you are opting in to receive SMS. If you call our number and indicate that you’d like to receive texts, you will receive an SMS message asking you if you want to opt-in to receive SMS messages from us. You are not required to opt-in unless you want us to send you messages. If you want to opt-out from SMS, please send the word “STOP” and we will no longer message you.
*We currently don’t have a dedicated staff person for our phone, so we may not be able to initially answer. Please leave a voicemail and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.
**Current Holiday schedule: CRVT does not provide service on the following holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, and 4th of July.
