Donations Help Subsidize Rides
Community Rides Vermont is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with the mission to offer flexible, affordable, and dependable transportation for rural Vermonters. Donors like you make it happen!
Help Fill the Gopher-It Gap!
The Gopher-It Rideshare Program is growing and we have an increased need to raise $120,000 by the end of 2026. We are more than halfway there with 65K raised thus far!
The annual cost to operate the Gopher-It Rideshare discounted rides program is approximately $120,000. This is based on our projection of around 4,540 rides that will be needed, at an average cost of $34 per ride. Thanks to generous donors who have already contributed to the program and grants we’ve received, we are well on our way to reaching that goal.
Your contribution enables Gopher to say “Yes” to helping folks access their jobs, medical appointments, food shopping, and other important needs. Any amount helps. Please share this opportunity with your friends!
Your Contribution Helps Fund Rides for the Community
Your contribution helps to fund a much-needed transportation service for our fellow community members. Donations help us say ‘yes’ when someone calls and needs a ride.
Our free ride service, Mobility For All, ended June 30, 2025. With that change, our goal is to continue to serve our community with affordable transportation options.
On July 1, 2025 we launched Gopher-It Rideshare – a discounted market rate service, where donations are used to discount a ride by 75%, and the passenger pays 25% of the trip. Donations help to support this new program and enable us to discount rides for qualified individuals.
We work to combine rides as much as possible in order to further discount the price by sharing costs with other passengers, and making our rides more efficient.
Stories from the Road… Gopher's Impact
To better understand how donors make a difference, the following are examples of the people Community Rides Vermont has been able to help thanks to ongoing community support:
- Older adults accessing medical appointments and food shopping.
- Families getting to Head Start and to high school so they can attain their diploma.
- Offering same-day rides for people who may not have been able to get around otherwise.
- A passenger called who ran out of inhaler medication, and a couple hours later we were able to get her to a pharmacy to refill this important medication.
- A customer called requesting a ride to the pool to cool off on a 95-degree day.
Thank you for helping us make this happen!
